where Pètal i Espiga began
With its legend, roses and books, Sant Jordi is a much-loved celebration in Catalonia. Pètal i Espiga began with the idea of sharing it with older people in care homes: we organise and fund free workshops where those who wish can make their own rose and enjoy time together.
Depending on campaign needs and the centre’s availability, we may also invite participants to make an extra rose or write a short dedication. Only if they feel like it: a personal gesture that can make someone else’s gift even more special.

free workshops in care homes
Sant Jordi is a much-loved celebration in Catalonia: its legend, roses and books bring the day to life. We want to share that joy with older people in care homes. At the free workshops we organise and fund, we recall the Sant Jordi legend together and those who wish to join can make their own rose at their own pace.
When campaign needs, the centre and participants allow, we may invite them to make an extra rose and write short dedications. This is voluntary: enjoying the activity comes first. Their words may accompany some orders when agreed; they are not guaranteed with every order.
Each centre’s participation and activities are agreed for each campaign. Collaborations for 2027 still need confirmation.

The Pètal i Espiga team prepares and assembles the roses for company orders and designs the bookmarks. At the workshops, participants can make their own rose and share the celebration.

where the project began
Sant Jordi is a cherished local celebration, full of legend, roses and books. Pètal i Espiga began with the wish that older people living in care homes would feel part of it too. That is our first reason for being: spending enjoyable time with them and celebrating a special day together.
We organise and fund free workshops in care homes as a voluntary initiative. Older people who wish to join can make their own rose and share Sant Jordi at their own pace. We adapt the activity with each centre so it is an enjoyable experience for participants.
When the centre has availability and participants feel like it, we may also suggest making an extra rose or writing a short dedication to share with other people. We consider this for each campaign. Participants’ enthusiasm and the happiness of that time together encourage us to keep going.

We process the details you provide —name, email or phone, company and enquiry details— to reply, prepare a quote and manage an order if agreed. The form transmits the enquiry to Formspree, which stores it in its dashboard and sends a notification to the team’s email. If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we process the content sent through that channel. We need your name and at least one contact method to reply.
